Two videos are available:
Teacher’s Guide – Watch before class
A short prep video with instructions and tips for leading the activity.
Classroom video– Play in class
The main video for students helps them solve the math challenges in class.
The best way to use this video in class is to play the episode up to the point where Layla’s mom says she found 3 mistakes in Layla’s “Day at the Zoo” report. Pause the video there and ask students to identify the 3 mistakes themselves. Then, continue playing the video to show the correct answers and explanations.
Zoo Story is great for grades K-3
In this episode, math concepts will include telling time, addition, subtraction, counting money and even a scientific fact… that the cheetah is the fastest animal on the ground.

Ask students to write their own short story with a few “math mistakes” included. The errors can involve time, distance, age, weight, money, or any numbers they like. Then, let classmates swap stories and play detective.

Please take a moment to share your thoughts on the show and the segments you used in class.
